Our Why

Our story begins in 2017 with a mission trip to Uganda, with the intention to understand the challenges faced by people with disabilities in that culture, to provide education to local communities, and to explore avenues for advocacy. We have expanded our impact through additional work in Uganda, Peru, Kenya, and Guatemala.  From just two Occupational Therapists on the first trip to Uganda, teams of volunteers have grown to include as many as 12 individuals, ranging from Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists to aspiring therapists and Assistive Technology Professionals. Team members have helped provide wheelchair modifications and repairs and education for local therapists and caregivers.

Our ‘what’ is secondary to our ‘why.’

To achieve our mission, we must continually ask, seek, and knock—whether through trips, fundraising, providing wheelchairs, coordinating teams, or serving in other capacities.

We are not just providing wheelchairs to children and families; we are embodying Christ’s love, (John 13:34 and Matthew 22:37-39) showing that having different abilities does not make anyone cursed or less than others. With tenderheartedness, (Ephesians 4:32) we serve the disability community, becoming humble servants (Matthew 23:11-12) to these families as we provide wheelchairs. We show compassion, heal physical and spiritual wounds, (Luke 10:33-34) and work diligently to fit each wheelchair with care and excellence. We willingly and joyfully sacrifice our time, resources, and energy to serve others and demonstrate His love in action. (Galatians 5:13)

Our ministry also extends to those working alongside us in the countries we visit. These local partners will continue to minister long after we leave. Our role is to support and empower them—lifting them up, stepping out of their way, and providing education and resources where we can. (Matthew 20:28)

For those who travel with us, we offer encouragement and an opportunity to deepen their relationship with Christ. As they serve, we mentor them in their spiritual growth, guiding them toward their calling and the next steps in their journey.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20
